Our In-House 1-Day Abrasive Wheels Practical and Theory course gives delegates knowledge, understanding and basic skills in the safe use of Abrasive Wheels.

Within the Theory you will cover:

  • The Provision of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.

  • The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 (EAV & ELV - HAVS calculation).

  • The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002. (Dust, fuel etc.).

  • The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (LEAVs & UEAVs).

  • Occupational Health Surveillance

  • Requirements of Regulation 9 Training

  • Hazards and Risks of Abrasive Wheels

  • PPE Requirements

  • Abrasive Wheel Marking System

  • Multiple Choice Theory Examination.

Within the Practical you will cover:

  • Basic Skills in Safe Use of a Machine

  • Changing of an Abrasive Wheel

  • Hazards and Risks of Changing an Abrasive Wheel

  • Safety Checks of the Machine

  • The Correct Start up and Shutdown of a Machine and Stopping the Machine in an Emergency

  • Practical Demonstration and Candidate Participation

What you require for this course?
  • Handheld machine/s in safe working order (operating paperwork if possible)

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Workshop clothing including gloves, ear and eye protection, safety boots and spectacles if worn.
