Benefits of a workplace wellbeing drop-in

What is a workplace wellbeing drop-in?

A workplace wellbeing drop-in is a private, confidential space hosted face-to-face within the workplace to provide employees/subcontractors with an opportunity to discuss their wellbeing concerns or questions on a 1:1 basis.  The drop-in’s can be hosted as fully flexible, drop-in appointments or a more structured approach with pre-bookable appointments.  Individuals can attend the private space to discuss any questions, queries or concerns that they may have about their own wellbeing or that of their loved ones, family and/or friends.

Workplace wellbeing drop-in’s offer a safe space to identify, explore and support individual’s with their wellbeing concerns.

What are the benefits of a workplace wellbeing drop-in?

Onsite workplace wellbeing drop-in’s offer many benefits at both an individual and organisational level:

  • Ease of access – the support is onsite, within the workplace, meaning that individuals can discretely access support when they need it.

  • Confidential – all appointments will remain confidential without disclosure of any personal information or circumstances to the management team meaning that individuals can speak freely.

  • External support – whilst mental health first aiders are now embedded within many workplaces, individuals can face barriers when openly discussing their wellbeing concerns for example, through fear for job security.

  • Impartial guidance – provides the opportunity to speak to someone with no direct association with the employing organisation.

  • Safe space – to talk about work-related or personal concerns.

  • Familiarity and rapport – when drop-in’s are hosted regularly throughout the year, employees become familiar with offer and develop trust in what it can offer them.

  • Early identification of problems – supporting individuals before challenges develop into longer-term or more serious issues.

  • Reduced stress and anxiety - helping employees feel more supported at work.

  • Improved morale and engagement - demonstrating that the organisation genuinely values staff wellbeing and the importance of supporting the workforce.

  • Better attendance and retention of workforce - through timely, practical support.

  • Improved productivity and focus - when employees are able to discuss concerns and access appropriate help and support.

  • Signposting to specialist services - where additional support may be needed.

  • A stronger workplace culture - built around openness, trust and prevention.
